How OT Works With the NDIS

Our OTs are experienced in:
• Functional capacity assessments
• NDIS progress reports and therapy justifications
• Home modification reports
• Equipment prescription and trials
• Supporting access to Supported Independent Living (SIL), SDA, and assistive technology

We collaborate closely with families, Support Coordinators, educators, and other therapists to ensure care is truly holistic not fragmented.

What a Therapy Assistant Can Do

Under OT supervision, Therapy Assistants can:
• Run therapy programs set by the OT
• Practise fine/gross motor tasks and sensory activities
• Support toileting or mealtime routines
• Help with emotional regulation strategies
• Assist with handwriting, scissor use, or daily tasks
• Work on goals during outings or community access
• Provide feedback to the OT to adjust or refine the plan

Therapy Assistants are also invaluable at Myka Place, helping create continuity for young people working on goals even during respite, particular those with Behaviour Support plans

Why Families Love Our Therapy Teams
• Person-centred and goals-driven
• Flexible delivery at home, school, respite or in community
• Transparent communication and regular reviews
• Culturally aware, trauma-informed and neurodiversity-affirming
• Affordable therapy extension through assistants
• Evidence-informed, values-led and connected

“Therapy doesn’t need to happen in a clinic room. We meet your child where they’re most comfortable — and where the learning matters most.”
